Pictorial report of holding mourning rituals in Shiraz

Shiraz hosts symbolic performances of unique rituals registered on Iran’s national heritage list.

Iran is a country of diverse cultures and rituals which surprise the visitors with a body of centuries-old concepts.

The country has a lot to say in the field of religious tourism. Every year, there are different religious rituals held in Iran, the most important of which is Ashura mourning rituals.

In every ritual, a deep meaning and story can be found that is the reason behind its survival.

Performers in the Iranian city of Shiraz took part in the symbolic presentation of three nationally-registered rituals, including ‘Chavosh Khani of Bovanat’, ‘Chak Chakou of Estahban’, and ‘Ahmad ibn Musa (Shahcheragh) Ta'zieh’.

The rituals were held in Jameh Atigh Mosque of Shiraz. The officials of Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism watched the performances.
